Road Safety Workshops: Teaching Our Young Learners to Stay Safe

Following on from our Road Safety Assemblies on Thursday 23 January, students in Nursery and Year 1 have been participating in engaging Road Safety Workshops, delivered by representatives from the Middlesbrough Council Road Safety Team.
ย
These workshops are designed to teach children the importance of crossing roads safely and equip them with practical skills they can use in real-life situations. Through fun and interactive activities, pupils have been learning key safety rules, understanding pedestrian crossings, and practising how to look, listen, and think before stepping onto the road.

Hands-On Learning for Young Pupils
For young children, road safety is a vital skill that will help keep them safe as they grow more independent. By learning in a structured, hands-on environment, they gain confidence in understanding road dangers and how to navigate them responsibly.
During the sessions, children took part in role-playing exercises, where they practised crossing a simulated road under the guidance of safety experts. These real-life demonstrations help reinforce good habits and ensure that children remember the key principles of safe road crossing.

More Workshops to Come
This week, the Reception and Morning Nursery pupils will also have the chance to participate in the workshops, ensuring that all our youngest learners benefit from this essential training. We are incredibly grateful to the Middlesbrough Council Road Safety Team for their time, effort, and expertise in making these workshops both educational and enjoyable.

A Commitment to Safety
At our school, we are committed to ensuring our pupils receive the best possible educationโ€”not just academically, but also in essential life skills. Road safety is something that affects us all, and by instilling these important lessons at an early age, we can help build a generation of responsible and aware pedestrians.
ย

A huge thank you to all the staff, pupils, and parents who support these initiatives. We look forward to continuing our commitment to keeping our children safe on the roads!
