Railway Safety – Network Rail

October 19, 2026

In October we had special railway safety assemblies from Chloe who works for Network Rail.  She spoke about the dangers around railway tracks and how to safely cross the tracks at the correct places.

Pupils learned lots of interesting facts and figures about the railways, including how heavy a train is (and how many elephants would have the same mass) and that it can take up to the length of 20 full size football pitches for a train to stop –  all demonstrating how dangerous railways can be if you don’t know how to stay safe.

Fortunately, Chloe shared top tips on staying safe near the railways – how to stop look and listen to live and how to keep safe around railway lines and crossings, and how to stay safe on station platforms.
