EYFS

At Archibald Primary School, our vision of giving every child the best start in life lies at the heart of our Early Years provision. Our curriculum is carefully designed so that all children, whatever their starting point, develop the confidence and cultural capital they need to thrive.

Our belief is that every child can achieve. We are committed to creating a welcoming, happy, and fulfilling environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn. Through our “I Can Do It” culture, we nurture confidence, resilience, and independence, empowering every child to believe in themselves and their potential.

We recognise that every child is unique. We celebrate and embrace the diversity of our school community, understanding that our differences provide valuable opportunities for children and adults alike to learn more about themselves and each other. We foster an inclusive environment where every child feels a sense of belonging and is proud of their identity, family, culture, and hometown of Middlesbrough.

We are ambitious for all children and are committed to giving them the very best start in life. Communication and language are at the heart of our curriculum, particularly for our many children who speak English as an additional language. Through rich interactions, purposeful play, and meaningful experiences, we develop confident communicators who are equipped to express themselves, build relationships, and access future learning.

Strong partnerships with parents and carers are fundamental to our success. By working together, we create a shared understanding of each child’s strengths, interests, and needs, ensuring every child feels supported both at home and at school.

Our carefully designed curriculum provides clear progression from Preschool to Nursery and Reception, building secure foundations in the Prime Areas of Development while nurturing the Characteristics of Effective Learning. Through high-quality provision and engaging experiences, children develop the confidence to explore, persevere, create, think critically, and become independent learners.

We strive to ensure that every child leaves EYFS as a confident, capable, and enthusiastic learner, ready for the next stage of their education and life beyond school.
