Y1 children have been busy decorating a wooden cross that will feature in a special video to be shared with schools across Middlesbrough.

The cross is decorated with images of Edith Cavell and red poppies which the children coloured carefully.

Later in the term Y1 children will be learning all about Edith Cavell in our special ‘Why do we remember…‘ lessons to mark Remembrance Day.

The Y1 cross, together with those from other year groups in the school, will feature in a special video filmed in school with Father Glyn to mark the laying of the first poppy – a ceremony that usually takes place at Middlesbrough Cenotaph but has had to be cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
